The rater should start the PANSS with the questions for items N5 (Difficulty in Abstract Thinking), G10 (Disorientation), and G12 (Lack of Judgment and Insight). The administration manual contains additional instructions for these items. The complete PANSS should be filled out after the interview by carefully checking the definition and scoring criteria for each item. We recommend that the rater note a preliminary estimate of the items that are evident during the interview. Module B of the SCID-5 answers most of the PANSS items; however, Module B includes past and present symptoms, whereas the PANSS is restricted to the last 7 days.
