Who can participate?


The Entrepares project is open to different profiles, valuing both technical knowledge and life experience. Below you will find the necessary criteria for each group:

People with Life Experience

These are people who have lived experience with mental suffering and who are being cared for in the health centers participating in the research in Rio de Janeiro and Maputo.

To participate, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Have life experience with psychosis, such as diagnoses of schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder, for at least 2 years.
  • Be between 24 and 55 years old.
  • Have completed primary education onwards.
  • Be under regular follow-up, at least monthly, at the health center participating in the research.
  • Be in a stable clinical state for at least 6 months, adequately following treatment.
  • Have the desire to transform your personal experience into knowledge to help other people.
  • Be available to participate in seminars and group meetings at IPUB (Rio de Janeiro) or Eduardo Mondlane University (Maputo) and research activities in your neighborhood.

Family members

  • Being a close relative or primary caregiver of a person with the profile described above.
  • Have the desire to transform your personal experience into knowledge to help other people.
  • Be available to participate in seminars and group meetings at IPUB – UFRJ Institute of Psychiatry (Rio de Janeiro) or Eduardo Mondlane University (Maputo) and research activities in your neighborhood.

Community Leaders

  • Be an active member of the community with a history in neighborhood associations, collectives or social projects.
  • Be able to communicate easily with residents and be interested in social justice and public health topics.
  • Be available to participate in seminars and group meetings at IPUB (Rio de Janeiro) or Eduardo Mondlane University (Maputo) and research activities in your neighborhood.

Healthcare Professionals

  • Have completed a technical or higher education degree in the health field (e.g. Psychology, Medicine, Nursing, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, etc.).
  • Work in health units participating in the project.
  • Meet and have contact with a person with life experience at least monthly.
  • Be available to participate in meetings in trialogical groups (person with life experience, family member/community leader and health professional) at IPUB (Rio de Janeiro) or Eduardo Mondlane University (Maputo) every 2 months.

General Observations

Voluntary Participation: All participants must sign an Informed Consent Form to participate in the research.
Free Training: The project offers all the theoretical and practical preparation necessary for the field investigation stages.
